ABOUT ME
When he was six years old, Ethan Digby-New visited the local zoo and wondered what it must feel like to be a butterfly. Sadly, he still does not know. But this question persisted and with it a desire to experience the impossible—unaided flight. Through this search, he did find something close: dance. This discovery prompted him to begin training at Greensboro Performing Arts under Suzanne Vandergrift, where he interned in stagecraft and management, and took performed in local venues. In 2017, he was commissioned to choreograph three musicals for high schools and performing arts studios in his local area.
Ethan made his film debut with Gone (2018), a television adaption of the best-selling series, quickly followed with several shorts and features. These include Keep Running (2018), which debuted at the Old Cinemark Theatre of Lynchburg, Virginia, as well as Within Shadow (2018), His Name Remains (2019), 88 Carolina (2020), and the feature film Within Flame (2021).
In 2018, he began attending the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under Susan Jaffe and Endalyn T. Outlaw, where he studied Cunningham, Limón, Countertechnique, and more under the NextNow, Harper Lee, and Nutcracker scholarships. He danced in works ranging from Robert Battle’s "Battlefield," set by Elisa Clarke, to Douglas Dunn’s "Pulcinella".
Ethan has choreographed for over a dozen professional productions. His most recent choreographic credits include working with director Elizabeth Earley (OBC Something Rotten!; Hello Dolly!) on a production of Mary Poppins for a local nonprofit; and a production of 13! The Musical for a middle school. Other primary choreographic stage credits include: Footloose; Urinetown; YAGP (concert dance); and his original concert dance piece to "Since Before, After", performed in the Agnes DeMille theatre. His choreography has been featured in a variety of short films, including "Widow" (2019) and Stray (2020).
In 2021, he starred as the male lead in Farewell Friend's "Birds in Flight" music video, and was a featured dancer in "Volant Matters", an advertisement for drone technology.
In 2022, he starred in "Before We Go", an original work by Grady Bowman for the stage, with songs by Jacob Collier. The film adaptation, a collaboration between Bowman and Adam Witmer, debuted in 2023. Also in 2022, he was seen at Brooklyn's Center for Performance Research, where he worked with Wesley Ensminger in an hour-long concert. In May of 2022, Ethan graduated UNCSA with a BFA in Contemporary Dance.
In 2023, Ethan performed at the RAMKAT's Center for Creative Entrepreneurship as a member of a dance quartet in "SHINE", and was seen as a dancer in RWS Global's production of V.I.M. at LegoLand Resort NY. He then traveled to Toronto to rehearse with Disney Cruise Line, where he performed aboard the Disney Wish from October 2023 to June 2024.
Currently, Ethan is currently performing with Disney Cruise Line for his second contract, where he can be seen in performances of Seas the Adventure, Pirate's Parlay, and more.
